The Xiamen Huandong Half Marathon starts at Meifeng Sports Park in Tongan and follows Huandong Road along Xiamen's eastern coastline, passing the Portman Seven Stars Bay Hotel, the Bingzhou waterfront and Fantawild Dreamland before finishing at Lvyin Port. The whole route runs on paved coastal roads, staying flat and smooth, with the ocean beside the field for much of the morning. Only the half marathon distance is offered, starting at 07:30, and the day brings chip timing, pacers, drink and nutrition stations, medical support and a finisher medal at the line. The setting combines island scenery, sea breeze and the buzz of one of China's most liveable coastal cities.

Other questions
December in Xiamen is mild and dry, with early morning temperatures often around 13 to 18 degrees Celsius. The coastal course catches the sea breeze, so a light layer for the start area is worth packing even though most runners race in shorts and a singlet.
Hotels in Tongan district put you closest to the Meifeng Sports Park start, while accommodation along the Huandong coastal road works well if you would rather be near the sea views that define the course. Xiamen island itself is also easy to reach by taxi or metro on race morning.
Yes. Pace groups are part of the race organisation, so you can settle in behind a pacer if you are chasing a target time rather than running to your own clock.
Drink stations and nutrition stations are set out along the coastal course, and medical assistance is on hand throughout. Carry your own gels or drink only if you have a specific routine you want to stick to.
Yes, bag drop is provided near the start and finish area, along with toilets and changing rooms. Keep valuables with you and pack your bag light, as the area gets busy close to the 07:30 start.
