Overview

The Wye Valley Tunnel Run 2026 offers multiple distance options including marathon, half marathon, 10km, and Colourburst races. The event features the unique experience of running through the 1.1km Tidenham Tunnel and showcases the beautiful Wye Valley scenery with varied terrain including country lanes, forest tracks, and old railway paths.

Getting There

Nearest train station is Chepstow, which is 1 mile from the start line. Chepstow has regular services to Cardiff, Cheltenham and Nottingham.

PrizesPrizes are awarded based on number of finishers: if more than 100 finishers then full range of awards, 50-100 finishers then top 3 overall, less than 50 then only winner. Categories include top 3 male/female, first U20, and age group categories from 20-39 up to 70+.

Parking · PaidParking is at Wyedean School and will cost £2 per car payable to the schools used

Public transportWyedean School is easily accessible from the A48 just outside of Chepstow. The event is 25mins from Bristol, 40mins from Bath, 40mins from Cardiff and 2hrs 15mins from London.

Changing facilitiesRace HQ is indoors in a school hall, which provides shelter and pre-race preparation space.

Aid stations · 11Water, electrolytes and a range of snacks

Water on course · 1Yes, there will be 1 aid station on the Valley View 10km route, 3 on the Valley View Half, 5 on the Tintern Station Half marathon route and 11 on the marathon route. These will provide water, electrolytes and a range of snacks.

Before you enter

If the race is cancelledIn the event of cancellation all entries will be rolled over to the same event the following year or a choice of alternative races will be made available within 12 months of the original race date if you are not able to make the new date.

Minimum ageEntrants must be 15 and older to enter the 10k and 12 and older to enter the 5k.

DogsYes, buggies are welcome at the event, but it is asked that you start near the back of the race.

Time limitNo, there is no cut-off time, and if runners choose to jog part of the route and walk part of the route that's great! Please note that the event is not suitable for only walkers.

Other questions

A mixture of walking, jogging and running is allowed, but the event is not open to people who intend to walk the entire route.

The best location to watch is the start/finish line at Wyedean School.

The 1.1km Tidenham Tunnel features cool air, moody lighting, and creates a surreal running experience. Runners on some courses will go through the tunnel multiple times.
