Thousands of runners from Albania and abroad gather in the heart of the capital for a week of running, music and celebration that culminates on Sunday 25 October 2026. The programme offers four distances: a full marathon, a half marathon and a 10 km fun run on the Sunday, plus a 5 km race that opens race weekend on the Saturday. All of the courses run on city streets through the centre of Tirana, and race day is built around a lively finish-line festival. The 2026 edition is the tenth, and it falls in the year Tirana holds the title of Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue, following editions that have drawn more than 4,000 participants from Albania, Poland, Ukraine, Kosovo, Austria and beyond.

Marathon Week is the programme of side events that surrounds the races, running from 19 to 25 October 2026. It includes bib check-in each day plus social evenings such as a masterclass with a DJ set, a Traditional Albanian Night and an electronic party, and it finishes with the 5K on Saturday and the main races on Sunday.
The marathon is held in the centre of the Albanian capital, and the event regularly attracts runners from Poland, Ukraine, Kosovo, Austria and other countries. Tirana International Airport Nene Tereza is the main arrival point for international visitors, and the city centre where the races take place is reachable by taxi or bus from the airport. Book accommodation early, because Marathon Week and the October race weekend fill the centre quickly.
The event is organised by the Municipality of Tirana in collaboration with the Athletics Federation of Albania, with the support of local and international partners. Responsibility for the organisation, the running of the race and participant safety rests with these institutions.
Yes. The races run through the centre of the capital and race day is built around a lively finish-line festival, which makes the event easy to watch from the street. Spectators can move between points along the city-centre course to see runners more than once.
The event has a dedicated volunteers page on the official website, linked from the home page. Volunteer roles, shift details and the sign-up process are set out there, and volunteers are a central part of race weekend.
