Walvoort Rondje Nederland Avondloop

Yes. Alongside the 5 kilometre run there are separate youth races over 2.5 kilometres, 1.25 kilometres and 450 metres, so there is a distance suited to most primary school ages. The 450 metre race is the shortest and is aimed at the youngest children. Check the organiser's website for the age limits that apply to each of the youth distances.

The Avondloop is run in the evening, so the programme starts after daylight and the last races finish in the dark. Allow for a late finish when you plan your journey home, especially if you are travelling with children taking part in the youth races.

Yes. A 5 kilometre evening run in a city setting is a friendly introduction to organised racing, and the field usually includes a wide range of abilities, from beginners to experienced club runners. There is no qualifying standard, so you simply enter and turn up.

Evening city races are usually easy to follow on foot, and spectators can often see runners at several points along the 5 kilometre route. The organiser's website gives the start and finish location, which is the best place to wait for both the start and the finish of each race.

Details of any baggage storage, changing facilities or shelter are published by the organiser in the run-up to the event. If no storage is offered, plan to arrive changed or leave your belongings with a friend or family member who is watching.
