The VLV Cross Country Championships take place on 18 October 2026 in Lochau in the Bregenz district of Vorarlberg, with a 5 kilometre race run entirely off road. Runners cover grass, meadow and forest paths near the shore of Lake Constance rather than tarmac. The event serves as the Vorarlberg regional cross country championship, so the day is built around one short, sharp race and the age group standings that come with it. Racing is in the morning on a single course, and the whole event is compact enough to watch from a couple of spots on the loop.

Other questions
The event acts as the Vorarlberg regional cross country championship, so it is aimed mainly at athletes registered with Vorarlberg athletics clubs, with the usual age group classes. Entry runs through the online portal, where the available categories are listed.
The race is held in Lochau in the Bregenz district of Vorarlberg, at the eastern end of Lake Constance between Bregenz and Lindau. The precise start and finish area is not given on the event page.
It is a cross country race, so the 5 km runs over grass, meadow and forest paths rather than tarmac. After rain the ground can be soft and slippery in places.
Cross country spikes are the classic choice when the ground is soft. On firmer or stonier sections, grippy trail shoes work well too.
That depends on the race regulations and is announced through the entry portal. If you want to be certain of a place, enter online in advance.
