The Virgin Forest Ultra Trail 100 Miles is a 162 km loop that sets off from Paranesti in the Drama region of northern Greece and returns to the same town. Runners spend most of the route on narrow single track through the Rodopi virgin forest, with dirt road and a little asphalt making up the rest, and they climb close to 7,000 m along the way on technical mountain ground. The race starts at 22:00 and runners have 40 hours to reach the finish. Twelve aid stations and medical support are spread along the course, and finishers receive a gift.

Yes. The organiser requires runners to meet qualifying criteria before their entry is accepted. The current standards and the evidence you need to submit are published on the official race website.
There are 12 aid stations spread around the 162 km loop, and medical support is provided along the route. Crew and supporters can also meet runners at accessible points.
The loop is technical and mountainous, running through the Rodopi virgin forest. Around 72% of the route is single track, 24% is dirt road and 4% is asphalt, with close to 7,000 m of climbing and a similar amount of descent.
Paranesti lies in the Drama regional unit of northern Greece. Most runners travel via Drama or Thessaloniki and then continue by road to Paranesti. Allow extra time for the journey and for collecting your race pack before the 22:00 start.
Mountain weather in the Rodopi range can change quickly, and the race runs through the night. The organiser's weather and cancellation policy applies, so read the event information carefully and come prepared for cold, wet and windy conditions.
