You can switch from the marathon to the half marathon during the race without prior notice. At the finish line, you'll receive a medal and be recorded in the half marathon results. However, there is no refund for the difference in entry fees. Conversely, switching from a half marathon to a marathon is not possible! If you're the first relay runner, you can also complete either the marathon or the half marathon. To do this, you must register for both events and wear the bibs for both during the race. After the relay handover point, you can remove your relay marathon bib and continue your race.
