The Vadlán Ultra Trail sends runners over 108km of trail through the Keszthely Mountains and the wider Zala County landscape, with around 2,850 metres of climbing and an equal amount of descent. The route is laid out to show the range's seven lookouts as well as the castles at Rezi and Tátika and the stupa maintained by local monks. A group of runners and ultra-runners organises the race on a voluntary basis, aiming to offer fellow competitors a professionally run day at cost. The field is capped at 150 solo runners, who set off at 06:00 and have 18 hours to reach the finish, with two aid stations on course.

It is a trail course through the Keszthely Mountains and the surrounding Zala County countryside, linking forest tracks, hilltops and the seven lookouts of the range. Runners pass the castles at Rezi and Tátika and the stupa maintained by local monks.
The race sets off at 06:00, so plan to be at the start area well before then to allow time for registration, any kit check and the pre-race briefing, and to sort out a head torch for the early darkness.
The event is a solo trail race with two aid stations on the 108km route. Any rules on outside assistance, drop bags and crew access are set out by the organiser in the pre-race information.
This is a long mountain ultra, so a hydration pack, enough food between aid stations, a mobile phone and weatherproof layers are the usual basics. Check the organiser's mandatory kit list, which is issued with the race instructions, before you travel.
Yes. The Vadlán Ultra Terep is organised entirely on a voluntary basis by runners and ultra-runners, and helpers are always welcome. Get in touch through the event website or Facebook page if you would like to marshal or staff an aid station.
