The courses use rolling paths, tracks and small lanes through woods, farmland and hamlets of the Monts du Lyonnais. The 160 km reaches north to the heights of Violay and the Tour Matagrin, with 6,300 m of cumulative climbing.
Yes. The event passes through villages and hamlets of the Monts du Lyonnais, and many points are reachable on foot or by car. Village centres, aid stations and the finish line are the best places to cheer.
The Hivernale is held in January and the Ultra in May in the Monts du Lyonnais, where conditions can change fast. The organisers publish a weather page and adjust the safety arrangements if needed, with any decisions communicated to runners before and during the event.
A joëlette is a single-wheeled all-terrain chair pushed and pulled by helpers, letting people with disabilities enjoy the trails. ATOS, the association behind the event, runs joëlette hikes and races every year, including at the Trail des Coursières.
