The next edition is scheduled for Saturday 22 May 2027 in Bergen, Norway.
There are three race formats. The Grieg Oppstemten Opp covers 2.2 km with 512 metres of ascent and is the competitive class. The Drevelin Montana Classic covers 1.75 km with 420 metres of ascent and is offered both as a timed recreational class and as a trim class without timing. A CaniCross class runs the 1.75 km course with a dog.
Not necessarily. The competition class is aimed at serious uphill runners, but the Drevelin Montana Classic exists as a recreational class and can also be run without timing, which suits participants taking on the climb for the challenge rather than a result.
The summit is reached on foot or with the Ulriken cable car, which lets supporters meet runners at Ulriksmasten.
The whole programme runs on a single day, so arriving on the morning of the race is possible, but staying overnight in Bergen gives you a calmer start and lets you check the mountain conditions in advance.
