Other questions
Check-in typically involves bib collection, mandatory kit inspection, and a safety briefing. For this rando-raid style event, you should also expect to have your GPS track checked or loaded, and to receive instructions about the bivouacs at Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry, Bidarray and Sare. Bring your required equipment and ID. Arrive with time to spare, especially if you need to sort drop bags or last-minute supplies.
The finish is at Hendaye after the Iparla cliffs and the final descent to the Atlantic. You will stop your timing chip, receive your finisher item if applicable, and can access any finish-area services. Return shuttles to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port are available but are not included in the registration price, so plan and book your return in advance. Keep some warm, dry clothes in a finish bag if possible.
The course is run partly at night and includes bivouacs at Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry, Bidarray and Sare. Bring a reliable headlamp with long battery life, warm insulating layers, gloves, hat, spare socks, blister care, and a lightweight sleeping bag or liner if required. Trekking poles help on the steep GR10 sections and Iparla cliffs. Also carry a backup navigation method and a power bank for your GPS and phone.
Expect medical support and checkpoints along the route, with emergency procedures coordinated by the organizer. However, because the event is self-supported and traverses remote Basque Country terrain, you must be prepared to handle minor issues yourself and wait for help in a serious emergency. Carry a phone, emergency blanket, whistle, and know the emergency number and race HQ contact. Report any medical problem to the next checkpoint.
