Transgrancanaria has been held on the island of Gran Canaria since October 2003 and has grown from 65 starters in its first edition to more than 1,400 athletes, walkers, joggers and nature lovers from over 20 countries. Participants cross the island on foot, passing through several aid stations where they can refill water and food and where the organisation can monitor their progress along the route. The course is the same for everyone and is fully marked to prevent navigational errors. Along the way runners meet rain, sun, mud and dust, and above all direct contact with nature. The event is held in the last week of February.

The event takes place in the last week of February each year. The next edition listed is on 24 February 2027, with the different races spread across the days around that date.
The event page does not state a qualification requirement. Because the longer distances are genuine mountain ultras, it is worth checking the official website for any entry standards or experience requirements that apply to the race you want.
The first edition in October 2003 had 65 participants. The race has since grown to more than 1,400 athletes, walkers, joggers and nature lovers from over 20 countries.
The route crosses the island and passes through several aid stations, which are natural places from which to watch and support runners. Detailed spectator guidance is published on the official event website.
Yes. Classic runners can have two drop-bag points (Fontanales and El Garañón aid stations) and Advanced runners one (El Garañón). You must bring the material to bib collection, clearly separated, and it must fit in one of the bags provided by the organisation (35 cm x 50 cm). Drop bags are returned at the bib collection area in Expomeloneras for collection only on Sunday from 09:00 to 14:00; no postal shipping after the race.
