La Louvetrouille is a 22.95 km solo trail race run out of Lalouvesc, a village in the Ardèche uplands of south-eastern France, as part of the Trail des Sapins. The route covers roughly 953 m of ascent and 953 m of descent through the pine woodland that surrounds the village, on a mix of forest paths and tracks. The race starts at 17:30 in the evening, so runners cover much of the distance in fading light and finish after dark, with a four-hour time limit and one aid station on the course. Fields are small, with a maximum of 200 participants, which keeps the event village-scale and low-key. ITRA rates the race at Mountain Level 4 with a Finisher Level of 360.
