The Trail de la Source is a winter trail event staged from La Chapelle-du-Genêt, a village in the commune of Beaupréau-en-Mauges in Maine-et-Loire. Runners pick between three trail distances of 12, 17 and 22 kilometres, all laid out through the bocage countryside of the Mauges. The races are held on the first Sunday of December, so the morning is cool and the ground underfoot is usually soft rather than firm. Entries and race day information are handled through the TimePulse platform, which is also the place to check final start times and course details as the date approaches.

Other questions
There are three trail races on offer: 12 kilometres, 17 kilometres and 22 kilometres. All three take place on the same day, so friends and family can enter different distances and still share the morning.
December weather in the Pays de la Loire can bring rain, wind and cold. The organiser's own policy on postponement or cancellation is not stated here, so check the TimePulse page and any email updates in the days before the race.
The 12 kilometre distance is the shortest of the three and gives newcomers a manageable introduction to trail running, while the 17 and 22 kilometre routes suit runners with a season or two of off road experience behind them. Whichever you choose, expect to spend longer on your feet than you would over the same distance on the road.
