The Trail de Haute Provence takes runners across the Forcalquier and Montagne de Lure region of southern France, in the landscape that sits between the Alps and the Mediterranean. The courses mix demanding technical singletrack with gentle plateaus, forest paths, grassland and the streets of historic villages, with long climbs toward the lunar terrain and panoramic ridgelines of the Montagne de Lure, descents to the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Lure and sections past the rock formations of Les Mourres. Runners also pass through Vières, Vieux Montlaux and Lurs, and close to the Ganagobie Priory and the Jabron Valley. Eleven distances run across the weekend, from a 10 km trail to a 166 km ultra, with relay options over 80 km and 166 km, bib collection in the Forcalquier event village, drink and nutrition stations, medical assistance and a finisher medal for everyone who completes the course. The atmosphere is deliberately authentic and nature focused, built around a strong volunteer team and a festive, family friendly weekend that puts the natural and architectural heritage of Haute Provence at the centre of the experience.
