Trail de Ficalho is one of the rounds of the Circuito de Trail do Baixo Alentejo, held in the border country of the lower Alentejo around the village of Vila Verde de Ficalho. The organisers build the routes around the variety of landscape the area offers, and runners at the 2024 edition remember a mix of paths that is unusual for the region. Three distances share the same morning: a 17 km trail sprint, a 35 km trail and the 50 km ultra, which covers 50.35 km with about 1,250 m of climbing and descending, six aid stations and a ten hour limit.

Yes. The programme includes a 17 km Trail Sprint and a 35 km Trail alongside the 50 km ultra.
The routes cross the Alentejo border country around Vila Verde de Ficalho. The organisers make a point of the variety of landscape and the mix of path types, so expect a blend of faster track and rougher ground underfoot.
The ITRA listing does not publish a mandatory kit list. With six aid stations across just over 50 km, most runners carry a soft flask and some food between stations, and the organisers confirm any compulsory items close to race day.
The village sits in the municipality of Serpa, in the Beja district, close to the Spanish border. Most runners arrive by car, with Serpa and Moura the nearest larger towns.
