The Tour de la Sambuy sends runners out from Faverges-Seythenex on a 42 kilometre loop through the alpine hamlets above the town, climbing 3,300 metres on its way around the Sambuy massif. The ground underfoot is mountain trail, mixing forest tracks with high pasture and rockier sections higher up, and three aid stations support the field. Runners have ten hours to close the course. The race day also offers a shorter Trail des Hameaux, the Trail de l'Eau Froide, and two relay legs that split the Tour de la Sambuy between two runners of a team.

Other questions
Yes. The programme includes two relay legs of the Tour de la Sambuy, Relais 1 and Relais 2, which allow a pair of runners to share the full course. Each runner covers one leg and the team is timed as a whole.
The event publishes its own equipment rules on the official website and they can change with the weather forecast, so check them in the final days before the race. As a mountain route with long climbs and three aid stations, a running pack with water, food, a waterproof layer, a phone and a foil blanket is a sensible baseline if it is not already mandatory.
Spectators usually gather in Faverges-Seythenex itself and at the accessible points along the valley road, where the route passes through the hamlets. Because much of the course is on high mountain paths, supporters should plan to watch from the lower sections and the finish.
October in the Haute-Savoie can bring rain, wind and early snow high on the Sambuy. The organisers monitor conditions and may alter the route or impose extra mandatory equipment on the day, so listen to the briefing and check the website before travelling.
The Tour de la Sambuy is a demanding 42 km with 3,300 m of climbing and a ten hour limit, so it rewards runners who have already finished a mountain marathon or a shorter trail ultra. The Trail des Hameaux and the Trail de l'Eau Froide are the better entry points for anyone new to alpine terrain.
