The Cursa Muntanya Girona turns the city into a trail running hub for a weekend, with runners from across Catalonia gathering to celebrate the Gavarres massif. The course leaves from the heart of Girona's old town and rolls out into the surrounding hills, mixing roughly 70% dirt track and forest road with 25% singletrack and a small amount of asphalt. It is one of the fastest and most surprising mountain races on the regional calendar, with about 800 m of climbing and descending and a maximum altitude of just 360 m. The weekend programme also includes a children's race, and the event is chip-timed with bag drop, showers, massage and food at the finish.
