The only format on offer is a 5 km trail loop, and each runner decides how many laps to complete inside the six hour window. Laps begin and end at the same point on the estate, so runners can stop whenever they choose and their completed loops are counted and recorded by event officials.

Everyone runs the same 5 km marked trail loop at Kippure Estate and repeats it as many times as they like inside the six hour window. Officials count and record each completed lap, and results are published on the Trail Criú website afterwards.
The loop is a mixture of firm packed gravel and forest road on the estate trails beside the River Liffey, so it is runnable rather than rough or technical.
Entry covers the timed six hour event, on-course aid stations, first aid, water, toilets, lap counting and results, free on-site parking, and a Trail Criú buff that you collect at registration on the day.
Buffs are collected at registration on the morning of the event at Kippure Estate.
