The Trail Afuega'l Pitu is an 11 kilometre trail race staged in the small Asturian parish of Lugar de Abajo in northern Spain. Runners set off onto the paths and country tracks that surround the village on a single-day event held in late January, when the Asturian hills are usually damp and cool underfoot. The race takes its name from Afuega'l Pitu, the region's celebrated soft cheese, and the event has been running for well over a decade, making it a familiar fixture on the local winter trail calendar. Entries, start times and any last-minute course information are published on the organiser's event page at 321go.es.
