Overview

The WOM Challenge takes place before sunrise on the sand at The Retreat Palm Dubai, a women-only morning built around three steps. Participants begin with sunrise meditation and stand up paddle boarding, two women to a board, then move into a 5K run combined with strength challenges led by expert coaches. The morning closes with a stretch session plus an ice bath and breath-work to reset body and mind, followed by a healthy shared breakfast, a panel discussion and a wellness village by the beach. Every woman finishes, and nobody finishes alone.

The practical side

Route

Four pillars: Balance (stand-up paddle, on your own board or sharing one), Cardio (5 km on foot along the beach, at a pace you choose, with water stops), Strength (thirty minutes together on the sand, straight off the water, short, scalable, no equipment you have never seen), Recovery (ice bath, mobility and breathwork).

Good to know

On the day

ParkingUse the official event guide for the exact start venue. Dubai road events often have limited parking and road closures, so the easiest options are usually the Metro, taxi, ride-share, hotel shuttle or a drop-off zone. If you drive, arrive very early, carpool where possible, and follow marshal directions. Check for any road closure notices published before race day.

Public transportBuild your weekly running volume gradually and include road runs, tempo work and intervals appropriate to your goal. Practise early-morning runs to prepare for the 05:30 start, and acclimatize to warm conditions if possible. Test your hydration and nutrition strategy in training, include rest and taper weeks, and avoid making major changes to your routine in the final week before race day.

ToiletsExpect toilets and a bag drop at the start/finish area, plus hydration and refreshment stations on the course. Exact locations will be in the event guide. Because Dubai can still be warm in November, carry your own hydration if you prefer to drink more frequently or use specific electrolytes. Arrive early if you need to use the bag drop before the 05:30 start.

First aid on courseEvent medical teams are typically positioned at the start/finish and along the course, supported by marshals and emergency protocols. If you feel dizzy, have chest pain, stop sweating, or experience heat illness symptoms, stop immediately and alert the nearest marshal or medical staff. Hydrate before the race and use the on-course stations, especially as the morning warms up.

Course markingThe road course will be marked with cones, signs and marshals at key turns and junctions. Follow their instructions at all times. Your emergency contact and any event emergency number should be printed on your bib or in the event guide. If you see another runner in distress, alert the nearest marshal or medical team immediately rather than trying to manage a serious situation alone.

Before you enter

DeferralsRegistration is open, but transfer and deferral policies depend on the official event terms. Contact the organizer as early as possible if you need to transfer your bib to another runner or defer to a future edition. Many events allow this until a published deadline, often with an administration fee. Do not run with someone else's bib without written approval, as this can affect timing, medical support and insurance.
