The University Run has been held in its current form since 2007 and brings students and staff of the University of Iceland together for an afternoon of running through the streets around the university campus. Runners can choose between a 3 km and a 7 km course, and both set off at 15:00 from the curve in front of the university's Main Building in Reykjavík. The ground underfoot is flat and easy, with roughly 20 m of climbing on the shorter route and 39 m on the longer one, so the day is about turning up, warming up and enjoying a fast run through the city with colleagues and fellow students. The run was not held between 2020 and 2023 and returned to the calendar in the spring of 2025.
