The Raven is a 10K and half marathon trail race staged deep in the Seven Mountains area of Bald Eagle State Forest in central Pennsylvania, with both distances starting at 9am. Runners face rugged singletrack, punchy climbs, runnable doubletrack, cool stream crossings and overlooks across long stretches of quiet forest, terrain that suits experienced trail runners and prepared hikers rather than anyone looking for an easy day out. The event is a local, non-profit grassroots race inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's poem, and proceeds fund college scholarships for local high school runners. The day closes with a post-race gathering and kettle-served ham and bean soup, with a vegetarian option available.
