Other questions
Both use the same trail loop. In the 12HR Challenge you run for twelve hours from the 08:00 start and cover as much distance as you can. In the Hourly Challenge you complete roughly 5 km every hour, on the hour, for up to ten hours, and you can stop after a single loop if that is all you want to do.
The course is a farm trail loop rather than road, and every distance is run over repeated laps of the same circuit.
The listed course profile shows no meaningful elevation change, so the loop is essentially flat and the challenge comes from the repetition and the clock rather than from climbing.
The 12HR Challenge is listed as a solo event. There is no relay category published for this race.
No mandatory kit is published for this event. For a long lapped trail race in late October in New England, most runners carry water, food, a light layer and a head torch for the later hours, and use the start/finish area as their base for resupply.
