The Mont Thou climb is a 3 km time trial with 400 m of ascent that links Saint-Romain-au-Mont-d'Or with the summit of Mont Thou, run on a Sunday evening in December during the Fête des Lumières weekend. Runners set off one by one from the Salle Pierre Poivre from 18:00, with a new starter every 20 seconds, following a marked route up through the village and onto the paths of the Monts d'Or. At the top, competitors take in the view over Lyon by night with a bowl of soup before making their own way back down. A glass of mulled wine waits for everyone at the Salle Pierre Poivre afterwards.
