The Maple Leaf March takes over Kent Street in central Ottawa for a full weekend of walking, hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion Montgomery Branch. It opens with the Friday Night Icebreaker distances, continues through Saturday and Sunday with 5 km, 10 km, 20 km and 40 km options, and also offers a virtual entry and a three-day full event package. The routes go through the city streets and green spaces around downtown Ottawa, and participants collect IVV stamps with IML medals available on the full event entry. The atmosphere is relaxed and communal, with friends, families and neighbours walking together rather than racing for a clock.
