The Drop - Winchester

At registration, you hand over all electronic devices and navigation aids. You receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag. You are then taken by bus to an undisclosed drop location while wearing a blindfold. Once the blindfold is removed, your timing starts and you must find your way back to the event centre on foot without maps or GPS.

Breaking the seal results in disqualification. The bag is for emergencies only.

No. All navigation aids, including maps, GPS devices, watches, and phones, are prohibited and must be handed over at registration.

Yes, an optional live GPS tracking system is available for safety. Trackers must be placed with a clear view of the sky and returned to staff; otherwise a replacement fee applies.

The 15-mile is the original longest version. The 10-mile is a shorter version with the same rules. The 6-mile is only for participants from outside the local area (visitors). Local participants may be reassigned from the 6-mile.
