Other questions
There are four options: an A race for mixed runners capable of sub-40 minute 10,000m performances, a B race for mixed runners at 40 minutes and over, a race walk, and a team relay. All are run over the 10,000m distance.
If you can run 10,000m in under 40 minutes, the A race is the right fit. If your 10km time is 40 minutes or slower, enter the B race. The event as a whole is best suited to runners who can complete 10km in an hour or less.
The full timetable of start times for the A race, B race, race walk and team relay is published on the official event website. Check it in the days before the event in case of any changes.
Everything is run on the synthetic 400m athletics track at Newtown Park, so runners cover 25 laps of the oval. The surface is flat, traffic free and fully marked.
Yes, spikes are permitted on synthetic athletics tracks under standard athletics rules. Many runners also choose light racing shoes or normal trainers, which are perfectly acceptable.
