The Tavarnelle Val di Pesa Half Marathon spreads four different routes across the rolling roads of the Florentine Chianti, with a competitive half marathon as its centrepiece. A 12.7 km race offers a shorter competitive challenge, an 11 km non-competitive walk opens the morning to participants of every age, and a 7 km Nordic walking route with poles rounds out the programme. Everyone runs and walks on paved country roads lined with vineyards and olive groves, past hilltop villages and crowds who come out to cheer. Chip timing, refreshment points along the route and a finisher medal complete a day built around sport, community and the landscape of Chianti.
