The Spinning Around Run is based at the Xcel Sports Hub Stadium on Waterside Drive in Walton on Thames, Surrey. Runners cover a 5.3 km out-and-back lap of the River Thames towpath, an off-road trail that stays completely flat with no elevation gain or loss. Because the event is lap based and timed, entrants choose their own distance on the day, from a single lap up to a half marathon, marathon or ultra, and can start at any point inside a one hour window. A single aid station serves the lap circuit, results go up the same day, and finishers can pick from a series of giant spinning medals, with a bespoke finisher's hat included on many entries.
