Runners start and finish at Xcel SPORTS HUB Stadium on Waterside Drive and complete laps of a 5.3 km out-and-back course along the River Thames towpath. The surface is off-road trail and the route is flat, with no elevation gain or loss. Within a seven hour overall time limit, participants choose how many laps to complete, with a minimum recorded distance of one lap. A one hour rock up and run start window allows runners to set off without pre-booking a specific start time.

Participants have seven hours to run as many laps of the 5.3 km out-and-back course as they wish. You can complete as few or as many laps as you like, and the minimum recorded distance is one lap, which is 3.28 miles.
The event offers a marathon, half marathon, 10 km, 5 km, 3 miles and an ultra option. Because the format is timed, the distance you cover depends on how many laps you complete within the time limit.
