Runners set off at sunrise from G.R. Herberger Park in Phoenix in small, capped waves rather than one big mass start, with waves at 7:30, 8:00 and 8:30 am. Distances on offer are a 5K, a 10K and a half marathon, alongside a one mile family fun run and a virtual option for anyone running on their own schedule. Timing is deliberately optional: there are no chips, and runners can submit a Strava or similar trace through an online form or simply ask a coordinator to clock them. Swag, including the shirt and finisher medal, is posted to entrants before the race so there is no packet pickup queue, and bibs are handed out on the morning. The course map arrives with the final participant information email in the week of the race.

Other questions
Once registered, use your confirmation number to reserve a wave through the wave reservation form. Wave A starts at 7:30 am, Wave B at 8:00 am and Wave C at 8:30 am. Each wave is capped and closes as soon as it fills.
Waves close the moment they fill. If your wave is full you can take a later wave, choose the virtual run option, or join the waitlist.
Yes. Late entries are welcome, but shipping may not catch up in time and your shirt could arrive after race day. You can wear whatever you like on the day and run with everyone else.
Final participant information, including the course map and all race day details, is emailed by the Wednesday before the race.
Jump in when you arrive. Coordinators stay on site for three hours after the first wave, so a late start is not a problem. Wave times can shift depending on the season, so check your participant information email.
