The Summer Extravaganza is a multi-distance running event staged on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal towpath at Kirkstall in Leeds. Runners pick between 5K, 10K, 10 miles, half marathon, 20 miles, marathon and an ultra distance, all sharing a flat, fast, lapped towpath route of roughly 6.7 miles with only about 17 metres of climbing over 10 miles. Chip timing, well-stocked drink stations and medical support are in place on course, and every finisher receives a bespoke medal. A generous 6.5-hour cut-off gives slower runners and first-timers at the longer distances room to complete the day.

Other questions
The towpath is flat and fast with very little climbing, so it suits runners chasing a personal best as well as those moving up to a longer distance.
The flat, lapped course, stocked feed stations and long 6.5-hour cut-off make it a friendly setting for a first attempt at a longer distance, and the multi-lap format means you are never far from support.
Kirkstall Abbey is close to the course, along with waterside walks and cafes. Leeds city centre, with its shopping, museums and food scene, is a short trip away.
