Stadion Marathon sets off at 10:00 from Sofia porten, the entrance to Stockholm Stadion, and sends runners out on a turnaround course that is covered in 14 laps for the half marathon and 28 laps for the full marathon. Each lap is roughly 1,500 m and a water station sits at the same point on every one, so a drink is never far away. Three distances are on offer: a full marathon of 42,195 m, a half marathon of 21,097.5 m and a 10 km. Runners born in 2009 or earlier may enter the marathon and half marathon, while the 10 km has no age limit. The whole day stays close to the stadium, which means supporters can watch their runners pass again and again.

Each lap is around 1,500 m and the water stations sit at the same point on every lap, which many runners use as a mental marker. The organiser publishes no lap-counting system, so a watch or a manual count is worth planning for.
The race is organised by Team Skavsåret IF and Team Ultrasweden.
