The main race is a short, steady climb rather than a flat dash. Runners leave the spa at Terme Snovik and follow well-worn paths up towards the church of Sv. Miklavž, gaining almost 300 metres along the way. Harmonica players and costumed parkeljni are stationed along the route to keep the legs turning.
