Other questions
The weekend offers a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10 km run, three 5 km runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and a 2 km run. There is also a 200 km cycling marathon plus competitions in walking, hiking, skating, longboarding, scootering, paddling and stand-up paddling.
Runners who pass the 20 km point slower than 2 hours 30 minutes are guided to the half marathon finish and classified there. Anyone affected must report to the timekeeper at the finish line.
Burg (Spreewald) lies in Brandenburg, south east of Berlin, and has its own railway station on the Berlin to Cottbus line, within easy reach of the town centre and the start area.
It is described as flat and fast, with no elevation change apart from seven stair bridges and roughly half the route on paved surfaces, which suits runners chasing a quick time.
About 50% of the marathon is paved and the remainder runs on forest paths and tracks through the Spreewald, so a road shoe generally works well, though expect some softer sections.
