The Sparkassen Metropolmarathon is a two-city running weekend staged across Nuremberg and Fürth in Bavaria. The races set off in Nuremberg and all routes converge on one finish, following the event motto 'From the Imperial Castle to the cloverleaf'. Around 11,500 runners take on seven different races, from short distances and Nordic walking through to the marathon, while roughly 600 volunteers keep the whole weekend moving. The courses run on roads through both cities, with plenty of refreshment stations and a colourful programme of entertainment along the way. Saturday belongs to Fürth and the Pillenstein KIDSmarathon, and Sunday brings the main programme of races.
