Runners set off at 8am from the Deering Estate in south Miami and follow a 5K route through the estate grounds before returning to the Family Festival on the shore of Biscayne Bay. The ground underfoot is a mix of paved paths and estate roads, so the course suits anyone from first-time runners to seasoned racers. Registration opens on 1 September to mark Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and closes on 28 October. After the run, participants and supporters gather for food, music and a raffle, with medals for the top finishers and race gear for everyone who takes part.
