The marathon starts in front of Shizuoka City Hall and works through the city streets before turning along the coastline, finishing at the east exit of JR Shimizu Station. The route is a certified 42.195 km course with very little elevation change, so it suits first-time marathon runners as well as those chasing a personal best. On clear days Mount Fuji is visible from the coastal sections, and residents line the roads to cheer. Runners are looked after by aid stations serving drinks and local food, first aid posts and AEDs, with baggage carried through to the finish. The race was first held in 2014 and returns in 2027 for its tenth edition after a pause.
