The Seven Sisters Skyline sends runners along the spine of the Seven Sisters in County Donegal's Derryveagh Mountains, linking Errigal with Muckish over rocky ridges, steep climbs and fast descents. Three distances share the mountain on the same day: an out and back 55 km with around 4,000 m of climbing, a point to point 30 km that crosses seven peaks on the return leg of the long course, and a 16 km race that finishes at Altan Castle. Ground underfoot is open, exposed mountain with little shelter and plenty of technical ridgeline running. The 55 km and 30 km carry UTMB Index status, and the day is an individual-only affair with no team or age-group categories. Dunlewey provides the base for the start and finish, with parking and a shuttle to the start line part of the entry.

There are three races on Saturday 19 September 2026: the 55 km Skyline starting at 06:30, the 30 km Sky Challenge starting at 08:15 and the 16 km Altan Castle starting at 10:00.
The 55 km and 30 km are genuine mountain races on exposed, technical ground and suit experienced trail and mountain runners or hikers. The shorter 16 km gives less experienced runners a taste of the same landscape.
Yes. The 55 km and 30 km are UTMB Index races, so finishing either earns qualifying points towards the UTMB World Series.
Mid-September in Donegal is famously changeable and runners often see several seasons in a single day on the mountain. Expect wind, rain and low cloud on the ridge even when the valley is calm, and carry clothing that copes with all of it.
Around 500 participants take on the three distances, making this Ireland's largest mountain running race.
