The Save The Rhino Run is a seven hour time challenge held on a signed riverside loop beside a stretch of the River Thames in Staines upon Thames. The ground underfoot is mostly well made path and tarmac with one short grass section, so ordinary road running shoes are the right choice. Runners decide how far to go, from the three kilometre minimum official finish all the way up to fifty kilometres, returning each lap to an aid table stocked with sweet and savoury snacks including vegan options. Entry is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules, medals go to everyone who completes at least three kilometres, and distance pins are handed out for half marathon distance and above. Toilets are available at The Last Hop, parking is at Bridge Street Car Park, and there are no changing rooms or showers on site.
