The race takes place entirely on the closed Shanghai International Circuit in Jiading District, where runners cover the half marathon distance on the same asphalt track used for the Chinese Formula 1 Grand Prix. Sweeping corners and long straights replace city streets, and the circuit sits just north-west of central Shanghai with metro and road links back into the city. It is run as a Chinese Athletics Association A1-level event, with chip timing, pacers, drink and nutrition stations, medical cover and a finisher medal. Entries are sold through the official registration partner at 140 USD for the 13.1 mile race, and the start and finish both sit inside the circuit complex at 伊宁路, Jiading District.

The route is entirely on the closed asphalt of a Formula 1 circuit, with no traffic, no trail sections and very little elevation change, so it is a fast, smooth surface for runners chasing a quick time.
Yes. Bag drop is listed among the inclusions, along with toilets and changing rooms at the circuit.
Early January in Shanghai is cool and often damp, with temperatures typically in the single digits Celsius. Plan for a cold start and pack layers, gloves and a hat for the wait before the race.
Jiading blends Shanghai's modern energy with a quieter suburban feel. Nanxiang Ancient Town is known for its traditional gardens, canals and xiaolongbao, one of Shanghai's best-known culinary specialities.
