Run Oak Island is a coastal race weekend held in and around Middleton Park on Oak Island, North Carolina, opening the BAM! Race Series. Runners choose between an ultra marathon with a surprise detour, a full marathon, two separate half marathon courses (a competitive East route and a walker-friendly West route), a 10K, a 5K and a one mile event. Courses run along coastal roads and beachside paths with ocean views throughout, and races go off early, from 6:45 AM through to a late morning start for the mile. Every finisher earns a large nautical-themed medal and a custom tri-blend shirt, and many participants combine Saturday and Sunday races into multi-event challenges.
