The route is split into 11 stages, and the timed stages together make up 20km of the 24.5km course. Each stage is raced and scored in its own right, and competitors also receive a combined overall result. Between timed stages you are free to walk or jog, regroup with your team and friends, and refocus before the next stage begins.
The Elite Wave has 150 places and sets off first at 08:30. The qualifying standard is a 20 minute 5K for men and a 22 minute 5K for women.
Food stations and support are positioned around the course, and the finish offers a Thornbridge Beer Tent, wood fired pizza and a BBQ. Mulled wine, a heated marquee and other warming touches are part of the winter welcome.
If extreme conditions force a cancellation on Saturday 9 January 2027, the event will be run on Sunday 10 January 2027 instead, so keep that date free when you sign up.
