The Turkey Trot sends participants on a scenic 5K loop through Ridgefield, starting and finishing at Union Ridge Elementary on 5th Ave. The route drops into Abrams Park, follows the trail beside Gee Creek, climbs Heron Drive to Main Ave and continues south to the waterfront, passing under the railroad overpass before tracing the shore of Lake River to a turnaround near the south end of Carty Lake. The ground underfoot mixes town streets with shared use trail, and roads stay open to vehicles, so runners and walkers keep right and use sidewalks where they can. It is an untimed family friendly run or walk, and the day also includes a short Drumstick Dash for children aged five and under. Funds raised support scholarships and grant opportunities for Ridgefield students, teachers and staff.
