Participants tackle a flat and fast course through the streets of Duisburg, designed to help them chase personal best times before entering the atmospheric Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena for the finish. Along the way, 18 samba bands keep energy high, while refreshment stations are strategically placed at 18 points for the full marathon and 10 for the half marathon. The event is organised for convenience, with parking, changing rooms and the start/finish area all within close proximity.
