The 5 km covers two laps of the circuit, the 8 km covers three laps and the 10 km covers four. Because every race uses the same 2.5 kilometre loop, the shorter distances suit newer runners and the 10 km suits those looking for a longer morning out.

It is a separate event on the same circuit in which participants run for two hours and complete as many laps as they can. The laps are run in support of a charitable cause rather than for a finishing time.

The race takes place in Aurich-Egels in East Frisia, Lower Saxony. All distances use a 2.5 kilometre circuit, so the start, finish and lap counting all happen in the same place.
