Qiandao Lake Marathon, also known as the Thousand Island Lake Marathon, has been held since 2015 on the shore of a lake that takes its name from the 1078 islands scattered across it, said to be the most pristine body of water in China. Runners follow a road course through Chun'An in Hangzhou, with mountains and waterfalls framing the clear water in every direction. The full marathon travels from Xiushui Plaza to Qiandaohu Avenue near Qingxi, while the half marathon starts and finishes at Xiushui Plaza. Both distances set off at 07:30, and the day is supported by drink and nutrition stations, medical assistance, bag drop, toilets and chip timing.
