Terrain

Flat, fully paved road course through the city of Salzburg and its green belt, with no significant climbs and an officially AIMS measured route.

Route

Start on the Staatsbrücke in the heart of Salzburg and follow the Salzach alongside the river into the city's natural, greener side. A straight three kilometre stretch of Hellbrunner Allee leads to the courtyard of the world famous Hellbrunn Palace, then the route continues through woodland and via Morzg back into the urban area. After passing the small Leopoldskron lake the course reaches its northernmost point at Lehener Brücke, crosses the Salzach and passes Mirabell Palace before recrossing the Staatsbrücke with a view of the UNESCO listed old town. Marathon runners complete this 21.097 km lap twice and finish on Residenzplatz at the foot of the fortress Hohensalzburg.
