A 53 kilometre mountain trail race with 3,200 metres of climbing that begins at dawn in the colonial centre of Paraty. The route links two major ascents in the Atlantic Forest, the second reaching Pedra da Macela, and returns to town on the historic stone-paved Trilha do Ouro.

No licence is required to enter the PTR 55. Registration is open to individual trail runners who are prepared for the distance and elevation involved.
Finishers earn a UTMB Index and two Running Stones, which are used in the draw for the UTMB World Series Finals and give access to iconic Chamonix races such as the OCC and the CCC.
It is a challenging mountain course with 3,200 metres of climbing over 53 kilometres. The two main ascents are sustained, and the Trilha do Ouro descent on old stone paving is technical and demands attention.
The mix includes an urban stretch out of Paraty, forest singletrack in the Serra da Bocaina National Park, and the historic stone paving of the Trilha do Ouro, parts of which are over 200 years old.
Paraty is a tropical coastal town in the Atlantic Forest, so expect warm, humid conditions with a real chance of rain. Carry the kit your training and the mandatory gear list suggest.
